The Foundation Certificate introduces candidates to the technique
of tasting wine and the characteristics of the common grape varieties
used to produce wines. The qualification aims to provide the basic
product knowledge and skill in the selling and/or service of wine
to prepare a person for their first job in retail or hospitality.
THE
WSET LEVEL 2: Intermediate Certificate in Wines and Spirits
Date: Tues. 5th October 2010 – Tues. 30th November 2010
Duration: Nine weeks (Tuesdays 18.30)
Fee: €395.00
The Intermediate Certificate qualification is intended
for those who have little or no previous knowledge of the broad range
of alcoholic beverages available. It is suitable wherever a sound
but basic level of product knowledge is required to underpin job
skills and competencies, for example, in customer service or sales
functions of the hospitality, retailing and wholesaling industries.

WSET LEVEL 3:
Advanced Certificate in Wines and Spirits
Date: Tues. 11th Jan 2011 – Tues. 8th March 2011
Duration: Nine weeks (Tuesdays 18.30)

The Advanced Certificate qualification is designed to give
a thorough understanding of the principal wines and spirits of the
world and their commercial importance in the world's market. The
qualification will assist those who are required to make professional
evaluations of wines and spirits with regard to their quality and
commercial value. The qualification provides the in depth product
knowledge required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example
in product selection in the retail and hospitality sectors.
The WSET Level 2: Intermediate Certificate in Wines and Spirits
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
A trade qualification for wine and spirit employees that will give
students an excellent all-round product knowledge. The course is
also suitable for the interested consumer.
HOW WILL YOU BENEFIT?
The qualification focuses on the key grape varieties and regions
of the world. Wine tasting is normally part of every class.

The WSET Level 1: Foundation Certificate in Wines
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This qualification was initially created for the front-of-house staff
within the on-trade sector. It has grown into a course with global
appeal, providing basic product knowledge to first time employees
to the wine industry and the interested consumer alike.
HOW WILL YOU BENEFIT?
The aim of the course is to give a basic introduction into wine followed
by some basic food and wine matching.

- The main styles of wine
- The WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting
- The characteristics of the common grape varieties used to produce
wine
- Service of wine
- Health, safety and legal issues
- The matching of food and wine.
- To gain the qualification students need to successfully complete
a portfolio of tasting notes and a multiple-choice paper of 30
questions.
The WSET Level 3: Advanced Certificate in Wines and Spirits
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is open to students who hold the WSET Level 2 Certificate
or can demonstrate the equivalent knowledge. It is strongly recommended
that students complete the Intermediate Certificate before progressing
to the Advanced Certificate.
HOW WILL YOU BENEFIT?
This qualification provides detailed analysis of the principal wines
and spirits of the world. Students will also benefit from in-depth
tastings where they will learn to identify product style and quality.
All sessions on this course normally include tastings.
